Vivo recently launched the Y18e, a budget smartphone in India. Let’s dive into the details and see if it offers big features for a small price tag.

Vivo Y18e: Design and Display

The Y18e boasts a large 6.56-inch LCD display with a waterdrop notch. While not the highest resolution, offering 1612 x 720 pixels, it does bump up the refresh rate to 90Hz for smoother scrolling and animations. The phone itself comes in a vibrant design, though specific colors haven’t been revealed yet.

Vivo Y18e: Performance

The Y18e packs a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. This chipset is geared towards budget phones and offers decent performance for everyday tasks and casual gaming. It’s paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which can be virtually expanded by an additional 4GB for a total of 8GB. Storage starts at 64GB eMMC 5.1, expandable up to a whopping 1TB with a microSD card. The phone runs the latest Android 14 with Vivo’s FuntouchOS 14 on top.

Vivo Y18e: Camera

The camera system on the Y18e is fairly basic. The rear features a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and a secondary 2MP sensor, likely for depth effects. The front-facing selfie camera comes in at 16MP. While it won’t compete with high-end phones, it should capture decent photos in good lighting conditions.

Vivo Y18e: Battery

One of the highlights of the Y18e is its massive 5000mAh battery. This should provide excellent battery life, lasting well over a day on a single charge for most users. Unfortunately, fast charging seems to be limited to 18W, which isn’t the fastest, but still helpful for topping up the battery quickly.

Vivo Y18e: Price and Availability

The Vivo Y18e is expected to launch soon in India with a starting price of around ₹12,990 This puts it firmly in the budget smartphone category.

Verdict

The Vivo Y18e is a promising option for budget-minded users who prioritize a large display, long battery life, and expandable storage. The 90Hz refresh rate and expandable RAM are nice touches at this price point. However, the camera system is basic, and fast charging could be faster.

Should You Buy It?

If you’re looking for a no-frills phone that delivers the essentials at a competitive price, the Vivo Y18e is worth considering. However, if you prioritize camera quality or blazing-fast performance, you might want to look elsewhere. Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual needs and budget.
